So, you might ask, “What do you mean Soul Care?
That doesn’t sound like a very business-like approach to coaching. That’s a fair question, and it’s one about which we’ve thought deeply. Let me give you our company’s answer to it.
The work that we do in the world is important to each of us. We all offer something to the world, and when we offer a product or service to the world, we want it to be full of value to the recipient. We want them to see it and receive it like it’s so valuable that they don’t want to get it from anyone else. We must believe that what we deliver is valuable. And you often hear the description of someone that, "So-and-so has the soul of a ...", a warrior, or an explorer, or an artist, or a judge. Whatever it is, it refers to the essence or soul of that person. I believe that in your calling in life, you possess the soul of that calling. And the state of that soul and that person, when tuned, attuned to and in harmony with true purpose is a powerful thing. And so our goal is to find a place, a way to bring that person's soul to its finest, clearest, cleanest, most powerful form.

The relationships we have away from our work are important. That is what we mean when we say, “Each relationship is a thread in the fabric of our lives.” We want each thread to be strong, vibrant, and contribute to the overall enjoyment and satisfaction we get from our lives. Are we happy with the strength of our own character and its positive contribution to the fabric woven into the lives of our friends and family? We want to be at peace spiritually.
For both statements highlighted above to be true, we need congruence[1] between what we believe about the value that we put into the hands of our customers, and the strength of our character to live in peace with ourselves and harmony with others. Both are the territory of the soul.
[1] Congruence is a term used by Carl Rogers (a humanistic psychologist) to describe a state in which a person’s ideal self and actual experience are consistent or very similar. However, Rogers felt that it was rare for a complete state of congruence to exist and that all people experience a certain amount of incongruence. (See, https://www.tutor2u.net/psychology/topics/congruence.)

The soul is primarily relational as we define it. The human soul is designed for and structured by relationships. The soul’s capacities are cognition, emotion, volition, conscience, desire, memory, and behavior. The use of these capacities is intended for relationships with ourselves, others, and God (or what you refer to as your Higher Power) to foster, enrich, sustain, and inform them.[1] This definition is intended to be over-arching under which many disciplines can exist.
We coach and deliver faith-based care to you with one principal aim: to align the state of your soul with the actions you take each day in your role or context. You know inherently that when your soul is not aligned to your actions, you’re not at your best. Conversely, when you have that alignment, you are powerful, persuasive, and influential. You are congruent, and you move through the world with an irresistible attractiveness.

What is your mission in your business? Why do you do what you do? As an employee (even a highly paid one), the mission is inherent in the role you play or the position you fill. You accept the company’s mission because you're being paid to accomplish its strategic objectives. You accept the mission; you don't conceive it yourself. As a business owner, you have a mission that you’ve conceived of even if you haven’t formally written it down. Hopefully, it’s to deliver value to the customer for a reasonable price. That value comes in the form of a product or a service.
In your life away from your vocational work, what is the state of your relationships? Are they strong and vibrant or weak and dull? Much of the joy we experience in life is a result of satisfying relationships with friends and family. Equally true is that much of the pain we experience and the sorrow and sadness in our lives is a result of fractured and antagonistic relationships with those same people. The results we experience are due directly to the condition of our souls.
The fundamental question then is this: What is the state of your soul in your role or context? Your answer to that question may be based on the answers to other key questions like:
